ICASSSD hold regular events for the public, academia, industry, and students in the form of workshops, conferences, outreach, community engagement to bring about awareness on the challenges of the present day around sustainability and climate change. The focus is to bring about awareness and help create new solutions that will help keep our planet earth green.
Sustainable development and sustainability are inherently multi-disciplinary because they concern a complex system having economic, technological, ecological, political, and other perspectives. Sustainability is enabled by technological advances but is a social construct and needs to be economically viable. Therefore, there is a need to take the discussion on sustainability and sustainable development beyond its traditional and confined limits within the academic disciplines of engineering, technology, economics or geography or political science and analyse the problems through a multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach, and holistic, integrative, and critical thinking. International Centre for Applied Systems Science and Sustainable Development (ICASSSD) is pleased to announce its first research school on ‘Sustainable Solutions’.
ICASSSD organized a workshop on Agroecology (Precision-farming) and Sustainable Development in hybrid mode on August 30-31, 2022. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about issues in sustainability and environmental engineering, and encourage researchers to discuss and design solutions to counter them. The emphasis has been on development of novel technologies, policies, frameworks stemming from the overarching umbrella of TEASE Consciousness (Towards Evolutionary Art, Science, and Engineering of Consciousness). The event brought together experts from diverse areas of expertise from premier research institutions across the globe to address the most pressing challenge of present times and the future which is - How to feed 11 billion people?
